Hello fellow art lover
I was born in a friendly little city called Coimbra, in Portugal. I moved to Oxford in 2017, and I started doing fine art not much later. It was not my first time doing arts though - it was always present in my life since I was a child. When I finally went to college many years later, eventually I had to put my love for arts away for a while in order to study a "real" subject, as I had been told many times that "artist is not a proper profession, it is only for a few lucky people!". That's the reason why it felt special when it naturally started to have some room in my life again - I found myself going to museums to draw those incredible greek statues, and soon I dived in the amazing colorful freedom of watercolors and pastels that would eventually turn into something that I am really passionate about.
This is the most special subject for me when it comes to fine art. Capturing people's mannerisms and the unique way that each one of us has to communicate emotions and state of mind were always something that I found fascinating. It is not about getting the most realistic looking to the drawing, but instead the energy that one can convey through a unique language that we somehow understand. I do like to work with watercolors the most, but I also find that the simple expression of graphite or the combination of black and white color compositions have a special ability to make such intimate pictures like no other media.
As humans, animals do also have a world to capture about them - and that is exactly the challenge here. What fascinates me the most about them, other than their beauty of course, is how they behave and use their body as their main way to communicate. Our differences is somehow what get us closer, and interested into each other, as we all are looking for a sustainable way to survive amongst other beings. That is what I try to make my drawings about - a journey to their world through an human lens.
This is quite recent in what I do, but it soon turned out to be my main tool to learn, try new approaches and evolve in general as an artist. My imagination is the fuel to my digital work - actually it can be memories, dreams, feelings, personal experiences, movies, games, everything and anything really. This is where you can have a glimpse of some particularities that are connected to my true self and belongs to my personal dream land. Throughout my portfolio you can find characters and places that somehow translates a little bit of my fantasy language and what is not tangible to the real world.
If you liked my work and want to ask for a piece feel free to send me a message! If you want to commission something personal but are unsure of what media would fit better your expectations, I am happy to help with that as well. Send over your picture(s), and if it makes sense to you, a brief description of the personality of whom you are asking a portrait of, as it will definately make it even more personal.
